a force of 8.4N is exerted on a -8.8 microcoulomb charge. what are the magnitude and direction of the electric field at this point?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The question is not clear. Electric field produced by the -8.8 micro coulomb charge depends on the distance of the point from the charge. So you would need to specify a distance value for example, "What is the magnitude of electric field at a point 10 meter from the given charge?"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, F = q E so E = F/q No direction is specified but force is positive.

Oh it didn't occur to me that the 'on' could be a 'by' in the question.. Direction of electric field is towards the charge since it is negative, although the vector direction can't be determined unless more information is given
