How does the order of operations relate to solving multi-step equations?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It relates by using the order of operations in the multi step equation for example 2x-3=11 you would have to reverse the order of operation and add 3 to both sides to get rid of the 3 then you would divide 2x by 2 and 14 by 2 to get x = 7

The order of operation tells you what to do first when you have multi-step equations. Parenthesis first, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract. It's basically a rule, or key. Like when dealing with graphs
