HELP PLEASE QUESTION IN THE COMMENTS

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

\[\frac{ X }{ X-16}\]

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

THE ANSWER IS x<16 but I don't know how to solve

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

I know the denominator can't be 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/-16

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

@ganeshie8 @whpalmer4

random231 (random231):

wat is asked in the question?

random231 (random231):

domain?

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

find all values of x algebraically for which the algebraic expression is not defined

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

yes, like domain

random231 (random231):

its not defined at x=16

random231 (random231):

cause denominator becomes 0

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

right, but at first I thought I was doing it right: x-16>0 x>16 but then I checked the correct answer in my text book and it says it is x<16 ? I don't understand :(

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

how?

random231 (random231):

um are u sure any other conditions arent mentioned in the question.. square roots for instance?

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

look

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

It's introduction to functions

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

#5

random231 (random231):

ill tell u u hav seen the answer of question no. 7 check the answer again!!!

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

oooooooooooohhh my God!!! :O

random231 (random231):

wat did u get it?

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

but I'm still confused, isn't x-16 supposed to be set up like x-16>0? or x-16 cannot be 0?

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

why is it x=16 and not x>16 or x cannot be 16?

random231 (random231):

i said that the function is not defined at x=16

random231 (random231):

which means x-16 cannot be 0

random231 (random231):

which means x cannot be 16

OpenStudy (fanduekisses):

oooooh I get it now, lol idk what is going on with my head today, I guess I just need to be more open minded :p thanks so much random231 <3

random231 (random231):

my pleasure!
