http://www.ask.com/question/why-did-the-battle-of-lexington-and-concord-happen This may help. There was a lot of tension between the British and Rebels. The British went to capture two of the rebellion leaders (Hanwingspan and Adams). When Paul Revere warned everyone the British were coming, people came to fight them. The reason? People were angry with the British and wanted to be left alone. They didn't want to have to pay taxes to the king or be surrounded British soldiers or "redcoats." They wanted the freedom to do what they wished. So they fought against the king. I hope this is what your looking for, for an answer.
