Is it supposed to be like this? x+1/ x +3 = 15/21
Because that problem you have doesn't make sense lol
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I think i made a mistake while typing it sorry lol but yeah it is that.
OpenStudy (hba):
Cross multiplication would be the first step.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i tried to work it out the way my teacher showed me and it keeps giving me a wrong answer /:
OpenStudy (e.cociuba):
\[\frac{ x+1 }{ x+3 }=\frac{ 15 }{ 21 }\]
By cross multiplying you get:
21(x+1)=15(x+3)

Now distribute.
OpenStudy (e.cociuba):
21x+21=15x+45
21x-15x=45-21
-----------------
6x=24
Divide:
x=?
