OpenStudy (hba):

Yes what's your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You all are angles thanks ok the problem is what is the value of x in the proportion x/+1 x+3 = 15/21 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*angels lol

OpenStudy (hba):

x/ ? +1

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

Is it supposed to be like this? x+1/ x +3 = 15/21 Because that problem you have doesn't make sense lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think i made a mistake while typing it sorry lol but yeah it is that.

OpenStudy (hba):

Cross multiplication would be the first step.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tried to work it out the way my teacher showed me and it keeps giving me a wrong answer /:

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

\[\frac{ x+1 }{ x+3 }=\frac{ 15 }{ 21 }\] By cross multiplying you get: 21(x+1)=15(x+3)

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

Now distribute.

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

21x+21=15x+45 21x-15x=45-21 ----------------- 6x=24 Divide: x=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got my answer already thank you!!!!! <3

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

Np (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

became a fan :)

OpenStudy (e.cociuba):

thanks!
