OpenStudy (nurali):

i think They used education and humanist ideas. The Jesuits constructed "Jesuit School", mainly in Spain, France and South America, in the 17th then in all catholic countries (some still exist). The believed that knowledge and reason were essential to humanity and that it will help people to wonder if God exists, if Catholic Faith ws right, and (in their mind) logically answered by the affirmative. They did not used violence or anything like that (and for that they were expelled of Mexico, for a more effective conquest). the Index of Forbidden Books was created by the Vatican, the Inquisition never went to Protestant areas and salvation through faith was a Jansenistic idea (and a Lutherian one too).
