determine whether (0,-4) is a solution to 5x+2y=16

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

So to solve this...all you need to do is plug in the numbers you get... (0 , -4) (x , y) So you would replace every 'x' you see with 0 and every 'y' with -4 5x + 2y = 16 becomes 5(0) + 2(-4) = 16 See if that works out...if not...it is not a solution to the equation
