The answer is D. The people in the town of Pompeii were living very happily until they saw black smoke rise from the volcano Vesuvius. A man said, to calm the people, that is was the house of a farmer and he left his hearth on, but the people knew that this story was not true because of the tremors that they felt. When the volcano erupted there was a TON of white smoke and ash that litered the ground like freshly fallen snow. Many people took to the sea to find shelter from the broiling hot magma and lava.
