Are you trying to find the side x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes trying to find x then find y

What is the total number of degrees in a triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

180

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

If u know about trigonometric ratios... \[\tan \ 60 = \sqrt {3}= \frac{ opposite \ side }{ adjacent \ side } = \frac{ y }{ 8} \] also... \[\cos \ 60 = \frac{ 1 }{ 2 } =\frac{ adjacent \ side }{ hypotenuse } = \frac{ 8 }{ x }\] so... now u can solve them for x and y ... did u get it :) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a 60, 30, 90 triangle, the side opposite to 30 is half of the hypotenuse, hence x =16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nothing woring with @***[ISURU]*** did. \[x \cos (60 {}^{\circ})=\frac{x}{2}=8\\ x=16 \]
