Thomas Hobbes defended powerful government while John Locke thought the power of government should be limited. Both Thomas Hobbes and John Locke imagined what life was like in a state of nature. Most of the Founders of the United States had read both Hobbes and Locke but were strongly influenced by Locke. All of these statements are correct.
