I need help with Advanced Academics assignment. who could help?
sure....???
okay cool. Mitochondria produce energy for the cell by ___________. A. combining carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight B. reacting oxygen with glucose C. splitting hydrogen atoms D. using chlorophyll to capture sunlight
@melissaholmes
okay... so....
you know what mitochondria are... right?
yes, power hosue right?
yeah!
so they are the powerhouses of the cell... meaning they make all the energy. to make this energy, there has to be a chemical reaction. we eat food, and the mitochondria takes the food, and breaks it down into glucose molecules, then uses these molecules to make energy... so what do u think?
i dont want to sound dumb. so mabe... B. reacting oxygen with glucose...? i have no clue.
we breathe the air in for oxygen, and eat food for the glucose... and the mitochondria takes these and breaks it down to form molecules... so yeah, B! :D
okay cool. ready for the next? ;P
It's B!!
sure!
lol
:D
When we say the cell membrane is selectively permeable, we mean that A. the cell is bathed in liquid. B. oxygen and water cannot enter the cell. C. some substances can pass through the membrane. D. it has a high concentration of salt.
u know what the cell membrane is?
yeah i think its c...?
yeah, u r correct! the cell membrane is "selectively" permeable, meaning some things can come in some things can't... this is because the cells in your body need certin nutrients, but want to keep others out. :D
okay! thanks, next?
yeah, why not?
Which of the following correctly compares diffusion, osmosis, endocytosis, and exocytosis? A. Diffusion and endocytosis are examples of passive transport. Exocytosis and osmosis are examples of active transport. B. Diffusion and exocytosis are examples of passive transport. Endocytosis and osmosis are examples of active transport. C. Diffusion and osmosis are examples of passive transport. Endocytosis and exocytosis are examples of active transport. D. Exocytosis and endocytosis are examples of passive transport. Diffusion and osmosis are examples of active transport.
i'm guessing u don't know what any of these are?
well... i did at one point. i habe bad memory..
lol :D exo - out: so transport out of the cell endo - in: so transport into the cell osmosis - only works for water; the membrane has certain protiens that let water in and out diffusion sends stuff out of the cell by force so: exocytosis - passive transport endocytosis - passive transport diffusion and osmosis - active transport
so.. d.?
yeah! :D
u r better than most people i help.... they don't even read what i say... lol :D
hahah well, when i ask for help. i mean it, hahah.
that's good :D
ready for another? :P
yep... :D
hahah coool. The organelle where cellular respiration occurs is the A. mitochondrion. B. cell membrane. C. lysosome. D. vacuole.
cellular respiration is the cycle that creates the energy for the cell... so which organelle did we say is the powerhouse of the cell?
A. Mitochondrion...?
yeah!
awsome!
btw... what is advanced academics?
its like a thing to catch up in school. i transferred schools and we didn't have "biology" so now i have to take the course on the computer.
ok... cool. :D my parents made me do florida virtual school online to get ahead.... :)
ncie. was it easy?
it was ok.... i had to do a good amount of work, but at least i understood what i was doing... :)
got any more questions? :D
true. and yeah 1more.
ok, bring it on! :D :)
the picture isn't loading onto it. maybe you can solve it without the picture..?
In the figure below, the two containers of water are connected through a membrane located between them. If some sugar is added to A, what is going to happen? Containers of water illustration A. The water concentration will decrease in A, and water molecules will move from A to B. B. The water concentration will decrease in A, and water molecules will move from B to A. C. The water concentration will increase in A, and water molecules will move from A to B. D. The water concentration will increase in A, and water molecules will move from B to A.
nah you prob cant.. u need the image..
ohhhh...
d. because the water will move towards the sugar to mix with it. :)
l i got to go now...
:D
okay. Thanks for your help!
yw
bye
