I'm confused. I'll write a program (or copy someone else's from below) put it into a new IDLE window, try to run it, and it'll crash IDLE. What am I doing wrong? [5*5 will work, but anything more than that and the spinning wheel of death shows up.]

Huh, OK.  Actually it will run if I choose "Run" from the toolbar it works fine.  If I use the shortcut listed ("F5") then it crashes. So now have a new question . ..
