Well, if \(t'=\gamma \cdot t\) and there is a good chance that \(\gamma \notin \mathbb Q\), that would really mess with the concept of discrete time.

Yeah, I guess the lack of real answers is reasonable here. We can only speculate on which is which even though there seems to be arguments in favor of both.
