What biotic adaptations have desert plants made to address the abiotic factors in their environment?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. Desert plants have shallow roots and grow quickly to absorb any soil nutrients before the rain washes the nutrients away. b. Desert plants store water in their leaves or stems and they often have deep or wide-spread root systems to collect as much water as possible. c. Desert plants grow in dense patches for protection against extreme sunlight exposure and have developed fire resistant properties to survive frequent environmental fires. d. Desert plants are low-growing to limit sun exposure and minimize water loss.
