Cultural diversity and diffusion are much different. Cultural diversity is the principle that cultures (in the broad and specific sense) are different from one another. An example in the broad sense could be many things. A particular one off the top of my head would be that German's typically would drink beer and Italians would drink wine. In a more specific sense, you could compare those in the northeast United States with those in the south in how they use the English language or their dialects. They are very different and culturally diverse. It just depends on how big or small you are defining a culture. Cultural diffusion is how ideas, goods, or traits spread from one culture to another. Again there are many examples. One could be how languages have diffused into other cultures. Over time, the English language has spread to many middle eastern and Asian countries, along with others. If you want a smaller scale, Spanish has become much more prominent and we are seeing greater numbers of non-Mexican Spanish speakers.
