how do i find the square root of a number without guessing step by step. please help would be greatly appreciated
a calculator would be good.
cant use a calculator i need to know it step by step
its for a paper and ive never calculated a square root without a calculator
Are you trying to find a decimal approximation or simplified radical form?
which is more exact
exact radical form is exact.
radical form
Could you post an example?
k
this is the question
which 2 consequtive whole numbers does the square root of 55 lie between? explain how you determined these 2 whole numbers
The closest I know as an example is sqrt(10) 9 is the closest sqaure to 10, and sqrt(9) =3 so sqrt(10) = 3.something, which it is. Don't know how to get further with that trick though
*perfect sqaure to 10
we know that 7^2=49 we know that 8^2=64 Therefore the square root of 55 must be between 7 and 8 since 55 is between 49 and 64
i guess it can be a decimal aproxcimation
what does ^ this mean?
It say two integers. The two integers are 7 and 8
I think that Mertsj's method is easiest. You can't determine a decimal very easily without a calculator
to the power of
ohhh k
Thanks a bunch man
how do i give you a medal or whatever
You can use perfect sqaure to determine the first digit, but that's it.
