Find the slope intercept form of the line whose slope is 6 and that passes through the point (-2,5) The equation of the line is:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let the equaion of the line be y=mx+c ...............(a) m=6(Slope) Since the line passes through (-2,5),so we can subsitute x=-2 and y=5 and get the value of c(y-intercept) in this way

OpenStudy (vshiroky):

so y=6x+5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no... y=6x+c.....(1) since the line passes through (-2,5),so they satisfy the equation of the line... 5=6(-2)+c 5+12=c c=17 Thus ,the equation becomes y=6x+17

Hope u are clear with it...any other question??
