why do American schools teach spanish?

Because it's require. They think we'll benefit from it, but it just makes most students angry and stressed.

Spanish is the second most spoken language in the USA and a big plus on resumes for college students looking to go into certain professions. It was predicted the USA will eventually become bilingual Spanish/English. So it's offered for the other 50% of students.
