The following frequency table shows the observed high temperatures in Buffalo, New York, in May 2007. https://media.glynlyon.com/g_alg01_2012/11/buffalo_temp.gif Which interval contains the median temperature? 50 - 59 60 - 69 70 - 79 80 - 89 I need somone to check if im correct i chose 70-79 is that correct ?
Hey, DD! I was born in Buffalo, so couldn't help myself when I saw your posting about Buffalo temperatures. First of all, DD, what does "median" mean to you? Secondly, how many temperatures have we here? (Total number?)
look at the graph i posted and im just seeing if im correct
Sorry, nope. I'm delighted to help anyone who really wants to understand how to come up with correct answers on his own. So, DD: what does "median" mean?
the middel number and ive already doen all this im just wondering if im correct
i understand how to do it im wondering if i am correct
So, in which of the four intervals given does the "middle number" lie?
betwwen 80-89/70-79
Look, DD: There are a total of 31 temperature measurements, arranged in ascending order. Which one of those is the median? For example, is it the 11th? the 13th?
where the heck did you get 31
Add up the counts. They are 5, 12, 9 and 5.
the graph says frequency not counts
In this case, we're discussing essentially the same thing. In the first temperature class (50-59 degrees), there are 5 data points. In the 2nd (60-69), there are 15. And so on. So you have 31 temperature measurements.
@phi can you tell me if im correct all i need is a simple yes or no
supposing you line them all up in ascending order. Which one is the middle one, the median?
How would it help you to obtain a simple yes or no answer without knowing how to obtain the correct answer yourself? If you got a "no," you'd still be stuck. If, however, you learned how to do the problem correctly, you'd be able to do it again the in the future. your choice.
this problem uses interesting logic. I think math male understands it. Do you ?
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i know how to do it how do you think i got the awsner if i got it wrong i will go back and do it myslef yes or no
yes or no thats all i want
How did you figure out the answer?
Your answer is incorrect. Let me know if you want an explanation. By now we could have obtained the correct answer and you'd be miles ahead because you'd understand how to do this yourself. the fact that you have 31 data points is of crucial importance in identifying the median.
finnaly i get the awnser i wanted goodbye
Sorry if you're not happy with my approach. When you want understanding and the ability to apply concepts to problem solution, I'm your man. Good luck.
yes but i only wanted to know if i was right or wrong if i wanted an explanation i would have asked
