What is the history of mariachi and who was the first composer? Mariachi first began in the nineteenth century in the Mexican state of Jalisco and according to popular legend, in the town of Cocula. The Mariachi was the distinctive version of the Spanish theatrical orchestra of violins, harp and guitars which developed in and around Jalisco. In other areas such as Veracruz and the Huasteca region in the northeast, the ensemble evolved differently. By the end of the nineteenth century, in Cocula the vihuela, two violins, and the guitarró n (which had replaced the harp) were the instruments of the Mariachi. ( History of the Mariachi) The first composer was no one because the music was created by the country people in Mexico.

How would you feel listening to country music performed by a group of hispanics in a group called a mariachi band? I, myself felt very bored of the music since I’ve listened to it over and over and we all know that any one can get bored of listening to the same genre over and over. But that doesn’t mean that the people around me felt the same. They were all very happy and since the music was dancelike. They all wanted to dance to the music that they themselves chose, since the group or quintet asked them what song did they want to listen too. So all the songs that the group played were secular. and the genre is ranchera which means country music in english.

What is the uniform of the mariachi, is the uniform the same for both sexes, and how many types are there? The uniform consist of a black or white suits. Black is used for ceremonies such as weddings or funerals, and white for beach parties or day events. The uniform is all about style, the elegance of the suit and the decoration with embroidery made sometimes with silver or gold threads. Sometimes it also includes silver or gold ornamental buttons and instead of a bolero tie, a man might wear a large red bow on his chest or maybe even a tie, but it just depends on the person. (Charro Costume) Their hat is really big and come in black, white, or brown. It can also have embroidery on the sides and have threads of sliver or gold hanging off it. The uniform is also called a Charro and there is only one type of the uniform which is the traditional charro. The only difference between the male and female charro uniform is that the women’s uniform is always a dress or a long skirt instead of pants.

What kind of instruments do they use? They use some chordophones which is the guitar and the bass guitar. Next are a few a aerophones like the trumpet and the saxophone. Some strings in the group is the violin and the last instrument in the group is the accordion.
