From the conditional statement that you wrote, determine if the inverse, converse, and contrapositive are logically equivalent. Explain for each statement why or why not.

If I poison Dr. Madness food, then he will be defeated Code #1: (Converse) If he is defeated, then Dr. Madness food is poisoned. Code #2: (Inverse) If I do not posion Dr. Madness food, he will not be defeated Code #3: (Contrpositive) If he is not defeated, then I do not poison Dr. Madness food.

Hi guys. I'm trying to figure out what they mean by logically equivalent

OpenStudy (leoray):

Code #1 is : Not equivalent because their could be thousands that are defeated.+ at first you don't know who you're talking about. Code #2 is: Is logically equivalent because you showed who the subject is, and if you don't poison him, he will not be defeated. Code #3 is : Not logically equivalent because at first you don't know who is the subject. "If he is not defeated" Who is not defeated? It's like the first code. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And we are comparing this to the conditional statement correct?

OpenStudy (leoray):

Yes. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wow thanks so much :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait can you help with the second part

OpenStudy (leoray):

Sure? :)

Your favorite math magazine has recently published an article on their website about whether solving systems of non-linear equations is easier by graphing or algebraically.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You decide to write an email to the editor of the math magazine defending your opinion. Your email must be two to four paragraphs in length. You must express your opinion on which method is easiest. Provide at least three pieces of supporting evidence. Provide an additional graph of a system of non-linear equations that supports your viewpoint.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@leoray Can u help me understand wht they are saying

OpenStudy (leoray):

Well, you should write 2-4 paragraphs, choosing your easiest method with 3 or more supported evidence and do an additional graph of a system of non-linear equations that supports your viewpoint..
