a chemist has 10 ml of a 30% acid solution. How many milliters of pure acid must be added in order to obtain a 50% acid solution

OpenStudy (primeralph):

(10*0.3) + x = 0.5(10+x) Solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why the +x on the left side though

OpenStudy (primeralph):

Should be 1*x or just x because you're adding some volume x with a concentration of 1 to the initial 10mL with a 0.3 concentration.

Oh okay thank you!!

You're welcome.
