What is the length of the midsegment of the trapezoid made by the vertices A(0, 5), B(3, 3), C(5, -2) and D(-1, 2). Show equations and all work that leads to your answer.

It's bit of a long way.... first u need to find the 2 sides which r parallel to each other ... to find that u must find the slopes of all 4 sides...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me do it because i am new to this and i have no idea how to do anything

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

there r 4 sides in ur trapezoid AB ( 0 , 5 ) and (3, 3) BC ( 3, 3) and ( 5 , -2) CD (5 , -2) and ( -1 , 2) AD (-1 ,2) and ( 0 ,5)

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

if u have 2 points name AB where A = (x1 , y1) and B = (x2 , y2) the slope ...\[slope = \frac{ Y_{2} -Y_{1} }{ X_{2} - X_{1} }\]

OpenStudy (***[isuru]***):

now can u use this and find the slopes of ur 4 sides ?

im so confused so how would you right it out in the end
