What is a photon?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

It's what we call "a particle of light". Light behaves oddly, it has wave-like and particle-like properties. With detectors, we can measure the particle-like behaviour as the energy a photon of a given wavelength carries. It's been found that these units come in only fixed amounts, so we say that the energy is quantized.
