here is a method for all quadratics in the form

y = ax^2 + bx + c

multiply a and c.... in your question its 8 and -3 = -24

find the factors of -24 that add to 10...

the larger factor is positive

so 12 and -2

then use

(ax + factor1)(ax + factor2) (8x + 12)(8x - 2)

a 8

factor each binomial

4(2x + 3)2(4x - 1)
------------------
8

cancel the common factors

leaves

(2x + 3)(4x -1)

and its a method that works every time....
