Well other than the lack of clarity in the question, this is what you know:
let x= a ticket,
3x=12, so x=4
if the 10 (the 3 plus the 7 friends) go, then it is 10 times 4 = 40
40 is 10 greater than 30, so that's the difference, but who knows what it actually means...
