Can someone please explain how to do this ? Factor X^2 - 25 A. (x + 5)(x - 5) B. (x - 5)(x - 5) C. (x + 5)(x + 5) D. None of the above

OpenStudy (demandandsupply):

assuming you mean x^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know the method of FOIL?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you don't, its First, Outer, Inner, & Last.

OpenStudy (demandandsupply):

It's the difference of two squares, and agree with Julianassange

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don'r remember how to solve for it though, but yes I remember FOIL

OpenStudy (amistre64):

assume it factors into some (x+a)(x+b), which foils out to: x^2 +(a+b)x + ab equating like terms we see that: a+b = 0, and ab=-25
