Are the pilot’s actions in “The Cold Equations” “good” actions or “bad” actions? What examples from the story make you think this?

I had to read this haha I thought that the pilot really didn't want the girl to die but he didn't have a choice because if he didn't throw her out then they both would have died, or if he went out instead of her she wouldn't know how to drive it so she still would have to die. It isn't like he had much of a choice.
