Hello, I've never done an online course before. Can someone explain how this works in simple terms? Thanks!

This site isn't a course. It's a place to get homework help. 
You can post a question in the question box after picking your subject.
The boxes at the bottom that light up orange and green are chat boxes. You can simply chat there.
If you know somebody is good at a certain subject and you would like them to help you, then put an @ sign and then their name on here. For instance, your name would be @mgatdula . 
If someone answers your question accurately, then press the medal beside their question. 
To befriend someone, scroll over their picture or name and press "became a fan."
