Solve for v. please walk me through p = mv

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide each side by m. v = p/m

how do you know what to devide by?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When solving for v, the goal is to get it by itself. When you want to move something from one side of the equation to the other, you must take the opposite of what is currently being done. For example, p=mv, m is being multiplied by v. so in order to move it and render v alone, and solving for it, you must take the opposite, division, in order to move it.
