Just a few hours after the birth of a baby, the mammary glands start producing milk. Which hormone stimulates this event? A.) Prolactin B.) Estrogen C.) Progesterone

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

prolactin is the hormone that stimulates breast milk production. Estrogen is in constant circulation, and progesterone is found in milk products, so they aren't going to be the triggers unless you think female mammals are always producing milk, or start lactating after having milk and cookies :-)

the name "prolactin" might also serve as a whopping clue to anyone who thinks about it :-)
