OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

How would I find the points of discontinuity from the rational function y=x-8/x^2+5x-6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when is the denominator 0? you wil have discontinuities there

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Right...you can factor your denominator...and then see what values make the function you get = 0...those will be your points of discontinuity. Why? Because when you divide by 0, what do you get? We have no idea..it is undefined...so how could we possibly graph it?.

OpenStudy (ashleyisakitty):

1, -6? :x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep
