@whpalmer4 What is the approximate perimeter of the figure? (It's Kind of like a circle with 5in) A plate has a diameter of 14 inches. What is the approximate circumference of the plate? A. 21.98 in. B. 43.96 in. C. 87.92 in. D. 153.86 in.
if we have a circular plate, the perimeter is the circumference. What is the formula for the circumference if you have the diameter?
C = 2pi r
Right?
I also have this one...What is the approximate length of a semicircle with a diameter of 64 meters?
you have the diameter…why would you use the formula with the radius? wouldn't it be simpler to use the formula with the diameter? :-) \[C = \pi d\]
then you don't have to divide the diameter by 2 and promptly multiply it by 2...
Oh right
Find the circumference of a circle with diameter 64 meters. Then divide it in half to get the circumference of the semicircle. (I'm assuming they only want the curved section, but you could easily find the length of the straight part, I hope!)
I still don't get it
@whpalmer4
What don't you get? Ask a specific question, please.
...
i don't quite understand how to solve it when you have the formula. I don't understand how to solve any of the questions @whpalmer4
Okay. Do you understand how to find the circumference of a circle?
