Please HELP!!! MEDAL!!!! 2. A pool company forgets to bring their logarithmic charts, but they need to raise the amount of hydronium ions in a pool by 0.50. Using complete sentences, explain how your graph can be used to solve 10^–y = 0.50. Find the approximate solution.

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

here the graph I made for this assignment

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

I think i know how to solve it's just i don't get how the graph helps

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here maybe this will help

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

ummm i don't think that has to do with my question sorry

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

thanks anyway :)

OpenStudy (phi):

what equation did you plot ?

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

p(t) = –log10 t

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

like I know how to solve that but how can the graoh help?

OpenStudy (phi):

If we use x and y for the variables you plotted \[ y= - \log_{10} x \] the inverse is \[ -y = \log_{10} x \\ 10^{-y} = x \] if you want to solve \[ 10^{-y} = C \] we read the graph by finding C on the x axis, go up to the curve, and then to the left to find the y value For example, \[ 10^{-y} = 1 \] we go to x=1 and find y=0 For your problem \[ 10^{-y} = 0.5 \] we go to x=0.5, go up to the curve, and then to the left to the y axis. It look like y is about ⅓ (tough to read, unless you make a "blow up" of he graph)

OpenStudy (trisarahtops):

so you want me to blow to the graph so you can see?
