Earthworms not only help in drainage capacity of soil. They are decomposers. They decompose the dead matter (complex and organic) into simple, inorganic nutrients that are needed by the plant for development. They break down the organic matter using enzymes that are naturally present in them. That's how they increase the nutrients in the soil. @Carniel Good enough? :)
