OpenStudy (anonymous):

The gravitational acceleration at a typical space shuttle altitude is about 91 percent of its surface value. What is the weight of a 64 kg astronaut in a shuttle at this altitude?

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

Gravitational acceleration at the surface is 9.8 m/s^-2. At the space shuttle altitude the gravitational acceleration is 0.91*9.8=8.918m/s^-2. So an astronaut at that altitude would have a weight of 64*8.918=571 Newtons.
