A bicycle store costs $2400 per month to operate. The store pays an average of $60 per bike. The average selling price of each bicycle is $120. How many bicycles must the store sell each month to break even? I need to use an x and a y for my variables, x being the number of bikes and y being the cost and profit.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

Write some formulas! What is the profit per bike sold?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

(I'm not including the store's operating costs in that "profit" — just how much profit from the sale of one bike)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I need help writing the formulas...

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

how much profit on the sale of a single bike? selling price - cost
