Order of operations help. If I have -x^2 - 2y^2 and I plug in -1 for x and y....what should the result be?

\[-x^2-2y^2\]\[x=-1,\,y=-1\]\[-(-1)^2-2(-1)^2 = -(1) - 2(1) = -3\]

Even power makes a negative number positive.
