well, the hen came first through evolution, then started to lay eggs as a method of reproduction. trees, or plants for that matter are similar to the hen/egg cycle. trees grew, then evolved to better reproduce by growing seeds and spreading them in various ways. ... if you're talking about the bible though, then its an entirely different matter.

yees. seeds and eggs have properties of trees and hens respectively. without the original traits/dna stuff, you can't make something that spawns into an already/halfway evolved state of life
