whats 9+-0+x*9=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey mine to help

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Was that " +- " in 9+-0+x*9= intentional or not? Do you mean "plus or minus zero" or do you mean (+)(-)=(-) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the - is for negitive then + is plus

OpenStudy (mathmale):

I understand that, but still need to know which of the twi interpretations I gave you is the correct one. We need to remove the ambiguity here.

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Altho I would have liked for you to have decided that for yourself, let's move forward with the assumption that you meant (-)(+). In that case, 9+-0+x*9= reduces to 9-0+x*9. This, in turn, reduces to 9+x*9. Again, I'm unsure what you mean by x*9: Did you mean exponentiation, as in \[x ^{9}\] or did you mean x times 9 (multiplication)?

Lala: Hope I'm not overwhelming you with questions, but I do need clarification from you. If y ou're taking this class in a classroom environment, I'd suggest you print out your and my comments and ask your teacher for clarification.
