I have an answer but i'm very doubtful about it. Just want to check if i got it right. Note: This topic is related to the RUDIMENTS OF REASONING

@keke_luvs_u Topic: equivalence of proposition Directions: Construct the proposition asked for CONVERSE THE OBVERSE OF THE CONTRADICTORY OF: " ALL PROPHETS ARE INTUITIVE "
What is the converse of the obverse of the contradictory of "All prophets are intuitive"?
Wow, that is sure a lot of attachments, lol
Yeah
I don't understand what's being asked
You need to move backwards on this. A statement and it's contradictory cannot both by true. The contradictory of "All prophets are intuitive." would be "No prophets are intuitive." The obverse of a statement replaces the predicate term of the proposition with its complement and reverses the quality of the proposition. The obverse of "No prophets are intuitive." would be "All prophets are non-intuitive." To write a converse proposition, put the predicate term of the original proposition in the subject place of the new proposition and the subject term of the original in the predicate place of the new. Or just switch places with the predicate term and subject term. The converse of "All prophets are non-intuitive." would be "All non-intuitives are prophets."
Nice one, wwhit. :)
@wwhitlock My logic professor checked our answers and i got it wrong His answer is "SOME NON-INTUITIVE ARE PROPHETS" Could someone please explain to me STEP BY STEP how did it become like that?
By the way my professor is a doctor in philosophy... SO i cant just contradict with his answer
\(\color{blue}{\text{Originally Posted by}}\) @wwhitlock The contradictory of "All prophets are intuitive." would be "No prophets are intuitive." \(\color{blue}{\text{End of Quote}}\) For contradictions, one must be true and one must be false. They can't be both true or both false.
by his, i meant my professor
let me requote it. my professor's answer to the statement: CONVERSE THE OBVERSE OF THE CONTRADICTORY OF: "ALL PROPHETS ARE INTUITIVE" my professor's answer is "SOME NON-INTUITIVE ARE PROPHETS"
but you have to follow a series of steps which makes the final answer weird but still try this subject is soooo hard i might fail
CONVERSE THE OBVERSE OF THE CONTRADICTORY OF: ALL PROPHETS ARE INTUITIVE Okay we start with: All prophets are intuitive. The contradiction of All S are P is Some S aren't P The obverse of Some S aren't P is Some S are nonP The converse of Some S are nonP is Some nonP are S So, we have Some non-intuitive (people) are prophets
oh i see yey! finally someone has gave me a reasonable and correct answer :)
Looks like I didn't follow the rule all the way on the third step. I'm glad you were able to have it explained to you.
that's fine @wwhitlock
