how is ribonucleotide converted to deoxyribonucleotide?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ribonucleotide and deoxyribonucleotide differs in hydrogen atom at 2 carbon of sugar.ribonucleotide has OH group in 2C of sugar and is reduced by the enzyme ribonucleotide reductase (oxygen removed from 2C) to form deoxyribonucleotide which has H at 2C.since Oxygen is removed it is called deoxy.2C carbon at second position.

OpenStudy (deepika.comet):

Check the images attached - the 2nd carbon has oxygen in ribonucleotide and there is no oxygen on 2nd carbon in deoxyribonucleotide hence it is named so. The third image shows the conversion of ribonucleotide to deoxyribonucleotide. HOPE THIS HELPED YOU...
