By being a law-abiding citizen, you reduce crime and keep everyone safe, since laws are in place to keep the peace. By voting, you are electing representatives who are genuinely concerned for your welfare, as well as the welfare of others. 

Just in general, fulfilling your duties provides a more peaceful society and equality for all. Sounds sorta cliche, but hopefully that helped.
