OpenStudy (anonymous):

a nationwide survey showed that 65% of all children in the U.S. DISLIKE EATING VEGETABLES. if THREE CHILDREN ARE CHOSEN AT RANDOM WHAT IS THE PROBABILITY THAT ALL THREE DISLIKE DISLIKE EATING VEGETABLES? write AS A PERCENT TO THE NEAREST TENTH

OpenStudy (mathmale):

To do this problem with the info given and no more, we'll have to assume that no kid influences any other kid in regard to eating habits. (In real life, some do!) If we make that assumption (i. e., assume that each child's decisions are independent of other children's), then if P(child dislikes eating vegetables) = 0.65, the probability that 3 kids chosen at random will all dislike eating vegs is (0.65)^3.
