how do i find the percent markup?

OpenStudy (mathmale):

Could you possibly post an example of the problems you're working on? If not, consider this: A retailer purchases widgets wholesale for $20 each and sells them for $22.99 each. What's the percentage markup? Procedure: Calculate the markup in dollars: $22.99-$20 = $2.99 Then divide that $2.99 (the markup) by $20 (the wholesale price) and multiply the result by 100%.
