Help with probability tree diagram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've attached a photo of the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is really hard for me to understand, can someone please explain? Thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(A) * P(D|A) = xr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whatever the values x and r are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would b be yt?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would d be P(A|D) = P(A and D)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 0.3.. I don't think I did it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, P(A|D) = P(A and D) / P(D)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For P(A and D) I got 0.18 / P(D) [0.6] = 0.3 but I feel like I did something incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(A and D) would be P(A) * P(D) right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(A|D) = P(A and D) / P(D)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I think I'm having trouble calculating P(A and D) though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I multiplied x and r and then divided by r

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(A and D) = P(A) * P(D|A) = xr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

P(D) = P(A) * P(D|A) + P(B) * P(D|B) = xr + yt P(A|D) = xr / (xr + yt)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! I think I understand now.
