the line crosses the origin. Start from there and move in the x-direction 1 unit, and then the y-direction 4 units. Make a dot. Keep on doing that for positive values of 'x'. For negative values of 'x', start at the origin, move left in the 'x' direction 1 unit and then down the 'y' direction 4 units. Make a dot. Connect the dots to make the line.
