OpenStudy (usman1995):

an object falls from a height of 100 m from a cliff. as it rolls down 200 joules of energy are lost as heat. what is its velocity at the base of the cliff?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

total energy at cliff is only potential energy=mgh at the bottom of cliff it's purely kinetic energy by conservation of energy theorem: \[mgh-200=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }mv ^{2}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for this you have to know mass of object.

OpenStudy (usman1995):

thanx but mass is not given.....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

without mass u can't calculate final velocity.
