Maffs question. Halp pls http://prntscr.com/2uk472

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

18, x, 8 In a geometric sequence, there is a constant ratio between consecutive terms. That means x/18 must be equal to 8/x. x/18 = 8/x Solve for x by cross multiplying.

OpenStudy (tester97):

So 12 right? because \[\frac{ x }{ 18 }=\frac{ 8 }{ x }\] Then\[18*8=x^2\]Then \[144=x^2\] Then \[\sqrt{144}=\sqrt{x^{2}}\] Lastly \[12\]

OpenStudy (austinl):

That is what I get.

OpenStudy (tester97):

I meant \[12=x\]

OpenStudy (austinl):

Yeh.

OpenStudy (tester97):

Thanks

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

You are correct. The missing number in the sequence is 12.
