so $47,250 is really the original amount PLUS 5% of the original amount added to so one can say that the original amount was the 100% and $47,250 is really 100% + 5%, so the 105% of the original amount, thus one could say that \(\begin{array}{ccllll} quantity&percentage\\ \hline\\ x&100\\ 47,250&105 \end{array}\implies \bf \cfrac{x}{47,250}=\cfrac{100}{105}\)
